At Wild Fork, our stores are more than places to shop - they’re part of the neighborhoods they serve. Recently, our Roscoe Village, IL team partnered with the Neighborhood Boys & Girls Club (NBGC) to support their Giveback Days, helping bring back a tradition many local families remember fondly: the NBGC concession stands.
For two days leading up to Giveback Days, our team joined NBGC onsite to help prepare and run concession stands featuring crowd favorites like premade Wild Fork burgers, hot dogs, and our ground-beef “walking tacos.” Excitement grew quickly as NBGC promoted the event through social media, email newsletters, flyers, and its strong alumni network. Throughout the week, our team connected with families, shared more about Wild Fork products, and celebrated the simple joy of gathering around great food, all while supporting a meaningful cause.
The community showed up in a big way. The concession stand generated more than $2,100 in sales, resulting in a giveback of $324.39 to NBGC. Final totals are still being tallied, but every receipt mentioning NBGC contributed to the effort, a small reminder of how collective support can make a real difference.
This partnership is especially meaningful for our Store Manager, Dawn Dunne, whose connection to NBGC spans decades. Dawn’s children grew up participating in the club’s programs, and she later served on its Board of Directors. Today, her family continues to sponsor a scholarship in honor of her daughter, a beloved NBGC leader who passed away eight years ago.
For Dawn, supporting NBGC goes far beyond community outreach. It’s a way to honor her daughter’s legacy and continue investing in the organization that has helped shape generations of young people in the neighborhood.
Over the years, Dawn has remained closely involved with the club, donating meals to families during the holidays, providing turkeys for NBGC’s annual Turkey Toss event, and volunteering at community activities. So, when NBGC shared its hope of bringing back the concession stands that once delighted so many kids, our Roscoe Village team didn’t hesitate to help.
The result was a joyful reminder of what makes a community strong: neighbors showing up for one another, local businesses lending a hand, and families gathering to support a place that has impacted so many lives.
Moments like these reflect what Wild Fork stands for — Nourishing Better Lives not only through the food we provide, but through the connections we help create in the communities we serve.
We’re grateful to partner with NBGC and look forward to continuing to support the traditions, families, and future leaders that make Roscoe Village so special.
