Blog NAMI Walks

On Saturday, May 10th, Wild Fork Food’s Support Center team members gathered at loanDepot Park in South Florida with one shared mission: to walk for mental health awareness. It was Wild Fork’s first time participating in the NAMIWalks Miami-Dade 5K, and the energy in the air was electric—filled with hope, unity, and the desire to make a difference.

Organized by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), the walk is part of a nationwide effort to raise awareness and support for the 1 in 5 adults living with mental illness. As the country’s largest grassroots mental health organization, NAMI empowers communities across the U.S. during Mental Health Awareness Month. Wild Fork was honored to walk alongside so many passionate advocates and supporters.

What started as a team challenge soon became a collective triumph. Not only did our team members meet their fundraising goal—they exceeded it, raising $1,850 and ranking 13th out of 208 teams! It was a powerful reminder that we can create meaningful impact when we come together with purpose.

“We are so proud of our Wild Fork team for showing up and investing their time in such an important community effort,” said Brent Booher, Head of Human Resources, who also participated and fundraised. “Our team truly embodied two of our core JBS values—Availability and Sincerity—through their presence and commitment.”

This event was more than a walk; it reflected Wild Fork’s deeper purpose: Nourishing a Better Life. Through our Forkies for Good employer branding community initiative, Wild Fork is committed to supporting the well-being of our communities—not just through food, but through actions that uplift, connect, and inspire.

To our incredible Forkies—thank you for showing up, stepping forward, and standing strong for mental health. You’ve made a difference that goes far beyond the finish line!
